How long was client searching prior to our involvement?

The client was looking for a couple of days before reaching out to DDI.

Did client have internal recruiting resources?

No, the client does not have an internal recruitment team. They rely on online job ads and word of mouth for the majority of their recruitment.

Why was this a real problem for the client?

The client has been executing a succession plan for a few years. The President thought that he found the right individual to take over the business 1.5 years ago. This said, as time went on, he realized that the individual lacked the soft skills to really step into his shoes and become an integral part of the business, team, and culture. The organization was a local and privately held shop for decades and many of the employees have been there for 15+ years. Due to this, the culture is extremely strong. For someone to become the next President, they truly have to build rapport with everyone from the field through dispatch, A/R, A/P, and Service and Sales Managers. Due to a culture mismatch, our client let go of the previous GM/successor and was looking for the right individual that he can mentor into a true leadership role over the business.

How did this opportunity help the candidate?

The candidate had plateaued in his previous organization. He was leading the local Service Branch for years and was having great success. That said, the contractor was a construction first company with service as an afterthought. Due to this, he knew there were no other opportunities at the ownership or executive leadership levels there. This opportunity allows him to step into an equity level position within an organization, and truly lead them into the next generation while preserving the legacy of the previous President.
