Company Description
Regional independently owned Corrugated Manufacturer with several facilities in the Southeast
Job Title
Regional Sales Manager
How long was client searching prior to our involvement?
The client was searching for more than a month before reaching out to Ryan. They had spoken with a few candidates that didn’t fit what they were looking for.
Did client have internal recruiting resources?
Yes, the client does have limited internal recruiting resources, including job postings and some HR personnel who handle internal recruiting.
Why was this a real problem for the client?
The client experienced an unexpected leadership gap when one of their key sales leaders left the organization. As a result, existing sales leaders from other regions and business units had to absorb additional responsibilities and provide coverage for the vacant territory. While this allowed the business to maintain continuity in the short term, it placed increased demands on the leadership team and limited their ability to focus on their own teams, strategic initiatives, and revenue growth objectives. The client needed to quickly identify a proven leader who could step into the role, stabilize the team, maintain customer relationships, and allow the other sales leaders to return their full attention to their respective areas of responsibility.
How did this opportunity help the candidate?
This opportunity aligned well with the candidate's long-term career goals. Earlier in their career, they had successfully held leadership positions and enjoyed the responsibilities of coaching, developing, and leading high-performing sales teams. More recently, however, their focus had shifted toward managing and growing national accounts, which allowed them to strengthen their strategic selling and customer relationship management skills.
While they valued that experience, they were eager to return to a leadership role where they could have a broader impact on team performance and business results. Additionally, the opportunity to join an independent company was especially appealing, as it offered a more entrepreneurial environment, greater visibility into the business, and the ability to directly influence culture, strategy, and growth initiatives. The role represented a natural next step that combined their leadership background with their recent experience managing complex accounts.
