The candidate who was in the role resigned his position after 10 years. They had no one to manage the department leaders day to day. The General Manager was unable to focus all his efforts on the strategy at the mill because he was forced to fill this role due to the departure.
How did this opportunity help the candidate?
The candidate’s mill was seeking new ownership and his site was going to be auctioned off, creating a very uneasy feeling of what the future could look like. He had been there his entire career and knew of nothing else. He hadn’t ever interviewed anywhere before. We were able to introduce to him to our client before his mill was sold off in which case there would have been a large number of employees on the market, diluting his chances of landing the opportunity.
