Not really, they had an HR Manager that had a lot of other responsibilities.
Why was this a real problem for the client?
They posted a job ad that didn’t produce many candidates. This was a brand-new position for them and they needed someone to come build a new department. The sales people were handling their own customer service responsibilities which was prohibiting them from being in the field selling more business.
How did this opportunity help the candidate?
The candidate had a long career with a top corrugated producer for over 15 years and due to a downsize, was forced to take a position out of the industry. His passion was the packaging industry, and this provided him the challenge of starting a new department and leveraging a number of old resources to do just that.
