How long was client searching prior to our involvement?

We had many touchpoints with this client prospect over the years and they advised us of their need right at the beginning of their search.

Did client have internal recruiting resources?

Outside of their own referral network, they did not have an internal recruiting function.

Why was this a real problem for the client?

The open position was created because of an upcoming retirement of the incumbent Group Director. There were no internal candidates that had the combination of people leadership, technical expertise, project management experience and financial acumen to lead this department effectively. If their incumbent retired and left the post prior to the replacement being identified, the department would run the risk of significant underperformance against objectives, which would also increase the risk of employee turnover within the group.

How did this opportunity help the candidate?

The candidate was a senior level industrial project manager with previous operational management experience running a department executing less complex general commercial mechanical construction projects. This represented a step up in leadership responsibility with an organization that had a more robust project pipeline and a more attractive path for future upward mobility.
